MaggieMoose: March Madness PINK!

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love."

On the first day of Spring Maggie and I took our usual morning walk. KAPOW! Spring was everywhere in pink. Our favorite color. The human in me was thinking of all the pollen. Did I take my Claritin? Maggie was fine. Her wiggle butt kept wiggling, pollen wasn't an issue for her. The sun wasn't in full bloom like the flowers, but oh to see the spectacular madness of pink left us pink speechless.

There were two teams of competing pink trees. Light pink and dark pink. They stood feet away from each other. We applauded them both. Long live pink! Out of the ashes of winter they rose into their Spring fling. Maggie wanted to make sure she brought a little of Winter's cast off inside. Just a little remembrance of the love we shared while we stayed warm through winter's chill. That's my girl Maggie, sharing the love. OK girl, please drop the leaf!

MaggieMoose: Wishful Twigs & Thoughts

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thought we wish to dominate our lives."

Maggie has a stellar mind. She sets her focus on something and badda badda boom it's done. Single minded purpose. I'm amazed at how quickly she snatches a leaf as we walk inside from the outdoors. In a nanosecond swoop-it's in her mouth incognito. Practicing this swoop over and over again has given her master skills. It doesn't stop there for Maggie. Twigs too. Right now we have the season of the multiplied twigs. One breeze here or there and the twigs are everywhere, including in our house.

Lately I have seen lots of wishbone shaped twigs. Is this a sign? I'm not sure if this has a higher meaning or not. Maybe Maggie wants to make a wish with me holding the other end of the twig? Kind of like how us humans use to do with the wishbone from the chicken or turkey. I remember as kids my brother and I were really into doing this wish making with the dried poultry bones. Serious business. Where did this tradition come from? No clue. We just believed in it, because we did it over and over again. Better yet, how does Maggie know about it? Well, Maggie drops the wishbone twig at her paws waiting for me to pick it up. What's the dominating thought here Maggie? Moose size pawsabilities? Whatever the answer, I'm game-let's make a wish Maggie! I still believe. WOOF WOOF

Maggie's Day: The Little Things of The Five W's

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important."

Timmy on Tui (Maggie's pals)

Sherlock Holmes always noticed the little things like the Five W's (who, what, when, where, why and how). These little things helped the famous detective solve the great mysteries of his whodunit cases. Maggie loves watching and absorbing every little part of her day too. Her typical pattern starts with early morning turtle watching while she lays on her favorite towel and listens to soothing jazz music. It's quiet, the lights are low and she has time to reflect and collect herself for the day. No mystery here, just relaxation.
bird watching

Maggie does have a new best thing to to do; bird watching. When the little bird hits the bird feeder Maggie leaps up and heads for the garden window to get a closer view. In her mind she seems to ask the question "Who is it?"

She might give me an earnest look or two....while I talk to her about not scaring the little birds away. Her look begs "Why not?"

Then too, Maggie's convincing moments she has to go outside can get interesting when I know she's just trying to sneak a little leaf or two indoors. I ask her "What are you doing?"
Incognito leaf?
My, my Maggie your mouth is looking a little horizontal! How is that possible?

The evidence Dr. Watson! I know where that leaf came from.

After a day spent filled with the little things that bring Maggie pleasure, the best part seems to be when she can spend a little time hugging her sibling real close. She gazes into her sibling's eyes and says I LOVE YOU.
Maggie rest her case: all 50 lbs. of dead weight
Mystery solved, indeed it is the little things that are the most important.

One Leaf, Two Leaf, Three Leaf, Twig!

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Nature will bear the closest inspection. She invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain."

Where's the twig?

People that know Maggie knows she loves a good twig or two. It's a perfect delicacy for a moose kind of girl. For me, trying to find the twig in the a carpet of leaves is like asking me to find Waldo in a kid's book. Not for Maggie, she takes an insect view of the leaves and BOOM-there's the twig! I find that in the autumn landscape sometimes things just kind of blend together. That's when I need to remind myself to be like Maggie, pretend I'm a macro lens and look closer. There is so much to see upon closer inspection. Maggie, thanks for the tip!

Butterfly Leaf

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail."

Butterfly Leaf

Maggie and I took our walk this morning and we saw what looks like a "butterfly" leaf. Creativity is like that, you see something no one else does. We like these pawsabilities that appear out of nowhere.  We like not being afraid to fail when creativity strikes. One just has to fly like a butterfly....
