MaggieMoose: Pawsing for Love

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."

Roses are red
Water is blue
Maggie wants to say
"I love you"
WOOF WOOF
Happy Valentine's Day!

MaggieMoose: Love's Blossom

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
Immature love says: 'I love you because I need you.' Mature love says 'I need you because I love you.'

Maggie's blurry puppy days

Maggie still has the same look in her eyes as she did when she was a puppy. I can tell the difference in her maturity since she passed the 2 year mark of her dog life. She's more settled in, not as frenetic as she was as a puppy. Today excitement continues to rein when she meets & greets people, but especially her human siblings. Nowadays instead of pulling out every toy to share with the human sibs she becomes their very own personal shadow. Where they go, she goes. If possible, she attaches herself to their hips. Lots of loving. Maggie needs them because she loves them. Love's blossom.

MaggieMoose: Good Morning Moon!

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"No matter how busy you are, you must take time to make the other person feel important."

Maggie and I have been very busy getting this done or that done for everything called MaggieMooseTracks®. We're waiting for a proof copy of the Japanese translated version of Book 1 MaggieMooseTracks® Making Friends to arrive any day, we're getting ready to publish Book 2 : MaggieMooseTracks® Christmas Star (the holiday book), and Book 3 MaggieMooseTracks® Wolf Pack is in the rough draft process, plus much more is in the MaggieMooseTracks® pipeline. Whew! And a WOOF! WOOF! Did ya catch your breath there Maggie? When I walked outside this morning to check on Maggie's sniffing about I looked up at the sky. "Good morning moon," seemed like a natural thing to say. More important to me was my stopping to appreciate the beauty of that moment after all the busyness. Afterwards we both walked inside. I was puttering about. More busy, busy... Maggie sat there watching me. I stopped and looked back at her. A deep appreciation of love for Maggie swelled up in my throat. It's easy to forget to appreciate others when I get busy, busy, but not today....
Good morning Maggie. And P.S. I love you!

MaggieMoose: Love In Two Words

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
Immature love says: 'I love you because I need you.' Mature love says 'I need you because I love you.'

Maggie's love relationship with her tennis ball is complicated. Possessive is one way to describe it. Abandonment is another word to use. Either way love is spelled "tennis ball" to her. In the past, all of my other dogs loved a good tennis ball too. There wasn't ever a problem with releasing the tennis ball from their clutches for me to throw. Bingo! That ball was at my feet. It got tossed over and over ad nauseum. Then Maggie entered my life. On day one she was hooked on old tennis balls. In my opinion, the issue with Maggie's love relationship with the tennis ball is she wants me to throw it, but she doesn't want to release it. She holds on tight. We've had many discussions about the necessary tennis ball catch & release program. Ball gets dropped, I throw it, and Maggie brings it back. Her love affair with  her tennis balls has her holding on dearly.

Sometimes Maggie won't look me straight in the eye if her tennis ball is in her mouth. I call this the avoidance strategy (you are interrupting me-bug off). Or maybe it's the "I'm invisible and you can't see me." If I look at her directly I feel like I'm interrupting a personal moment between her and her tennis ball. Once in a blue moon she'll throw her ball at my feet. At that moment I think we're making progress.  Then it's back to the vise grip of love. I wonder if this is mature love I need you because I love you or immature love I love you because I need you? Either way, for Maggie love is spelled in two words- tennis ball. I accept her passionate love affair with the tennis ball and kindly bug off.

Maggie's Day: The Little Things of The Five W's

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important."

Timmy on Tui (Maggie's pals)

Sherlock Holmes always noticed the little things like the Five W's (who, what, when, where, why and how). These little things helped the famous detective solve the great mysteries of his whodunit cases. Maggie loves watching and absorbing every little part of her day too. Her typical pattern starts with early morning turtle watching while she lays on her favorite towel and listens to soothing jazz music. It's quiet, the lights are low and she has time to reflect and collect herself for the day. No mystery here, just relaxation.
bird watching

Maggie does have a new best thing to to do; bird watching. When the little bird hits the bird feeder Maggie leaps up and heads for the garden window to get a closer view. In her mind she seems to ask the question "Who is it?"

She might give me an earnest look or two....while I talk to her about not scaring the little birds away. Her look begs "Why not?"

Then too, Maggie's convincing moments she has to go outside can get interesting when I know she's just trying to sneak a little leaf or two indoors. I ask her "What are you doing?"
Incognito leaf?
My, my Maggie your mouth is looking a little horizontal! How is that possible?

The evidence Dr. Watson! I know where that leaf came from.

After a day spent filled with the little things that bring Maggie pleasure, the best part seems to be when she can spend a little time hugging her sibling real close. She gazes into her sibling's eyes and says I LOVE YOU.
Maggie rest her case: all 50 lbs. of dead weight
Mystery solved, indeed it is the little things that are the most important.

My Dog Appreciation Day

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"You can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, `My God, you're RIGHT! I NEVER would've thought of that!'"
Dave Barry

Morning time Maggie

Waking up to my velvet fur ball Maggie is the BEST! Troubles melt, joy abounds, and fun happens. Maggie is always ready to listen, chase balls, or garble talk to me with a toy stuffed in her mouth. Maggie hugs me by lunging her whole body into mine. I then wrap my arms around her 45lb velvety frame. I find myself garble talking back while I'm hugging and loving on her! Kisses are freely given from her sweet face. The touch of her velvet fur is the very best. Her coat feels like mink in my hands. My dog is the best medicine for me to realign my spirit and appreciate life. She really does look at me with the look that says....  `My God, you're RIGHT! I NEVER would've thought of that!' Thanks Maggie!
