Helen Keller

MaggieMoose: Greatest Love

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"The greatest love is a mother's; then it's a dog's; then a sweetheart's.

And kitty love.

MaggieMoose: Switcheroo

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
switcheroo is a sudden unexpected variation or reversal that is often associated with a joke (sometimes "the old switcheroo").

Flint kitty tells Maggie...bend down a little and show me your bunny ears?

Flint kitty tries a different angle.
Oh, I get it Maggie, they're for wacking with my paw!

MaggieMoose: Be Like The Turtle

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Try to be like the turtle - at ease in your own shell."

Maggie's besties:
Timmy on top
Tui on the bottom

Maggie loves sitting by the turtle tank staring at her friends the turtles; Timmy & Tui. The turtles love to come close to the glass and stare back at Maggie. They have their own special relationship with each other. Timmy & Tui have been in our family a long time. Long before Maggie and Flint kitty, back when Maggie's human siblings were little children. Timmy was once a tiny turtle all by himself in a big tank. Then we rescued Tui, who was full grown and a pitiful mess. The turtles bonded immediately. Nowadays Timmy is almost the same size of Tui. Both are at ease in their own shell. Maggie shares their turtle wisdom and is at ease in her own shell; red eared slider turtles and one English Springer Spaniel dog.

MaggieMoose: A Lap Is A Lap Dog Or Cat

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"If a dog jumps into your lap, it is because he is fond of you; but if a cat does the same thing, it is because your lap is warmer."

MaggieMoose: Maggiefish Sea Dreams

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions."

Maggiefish

I happened to be out shopping with Maggie's human sib Christy. We saw a clown fish Halloween costume for dogs (like Finding Nemo). It was perfect for Maggie since both her human twin sibs have fish names due to their love of the water. One is Christyfish and one is Juliefish. Now there's Maggiefish. She happily swam around the house in her fish costume. The fins caught her attention the most. She wasn't sure if they were for flying or swimming. Last year Maggie was a bumblebee and had wings. Maybe there's some connection here... Either way, Maggie knows that without her having an imagination to swim or fly; where would she go? Life is more fun to see what she might bee (buzz, buzz) or what waters she might swim in with her imagination to guide her....Splash.

MaggieMoose: Love's Blossom

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
Immature love says: 'I love you because I need you.' Mature love says 'I need you because I love you.'

Maggie's blurry puppy days

Maggie still has the same look in her eyes as she did when she was a puppy. I can tell the difference in her maturity since she passed the 2 year mark of her dog life. She's more settled in, not as frenetic as she was as a puppy. Today excitement continues to rein when she meets & greets people, but especially her human siblings. Nowadays instead of pulling out every toy to share with the human sibs she becomes their very own personal shadow. Where they go, she goes. If possible, she attaches herself to their hips. Lots of loving. Maggie needs them because she loves them. Love's blossom.

MaggieMoose: The Art Of Photo Love

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter - a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue."

Maggie lays next to me while I sip my coffee in her cup. We decided to look over some photos from our Half Moon Bay excursion. Maggie naturally gravitates to the dog photos or photos of flowers and other pretty things. The best dog photo we have is of Reno, a 9 year old Australian Shepherd mix. This pup is the epitome of relaxation. He didn't move for anyone for he was one with the floor.

Maggie reminds me she can be "one with" her surroundings too. For instance, we have a photo of her with her grandma. We call it "Grandma Love", but maybe we should have named it the 'Grandma Melt". It's in a photo contest called One Life 2013. Maggie kindly asks "Would you please VOTE today for her "Grandma Love" photo? The art of relaxation.

MaggieMoose: Squeak & Smile

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"A smile is happiness you'll find right under your nose."

Today when I woke up I needed some humor. Something silly and totally irrelevant to serious life. Maggie supplied me. It began with the nose. The nose looking for adventure. Maggie gave me her 'nose' up close and personal. Then she scrambled nose deep into her toy bin. Toys flew hither and yonder. Nonchalantly Maggie strolled back to her cozy bed. Blue squeaky at her paws. That gave me a laugh. This was part of a puzzle toy that was inside an indestructible outer shell. Maggie shredded the puzzle shell in a nanosecond. Jaws of steel. I don't even know what the heck this toy is. A truck? Its shape doesn't matter to Maggie, because it SQUEAKS! REALLY LOUD! Just like she likes it super early in the morning.

Maggie didn't stop there. She caught my eye. Grabbed the mysterious squeaky toy in her mouth and tossed it my way. I took her subtle hint it was play time and tossed the toy. She scrambled down the hallway. SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK... she got it. Maggie wanted more fun. She was in my face with what I called the blue devil (the squeak from H-E-Double Hockey Sticks). I couldn't help myself but laugh like crazy. Thanks Maggie, I found the smile right under your nose.
