MaggieMoose: Privilege It Is To Be Alive!

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love."

MaggieMoose: Green Day

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises."

Maggie and I never know what we might find on our walks. Smack dab in the middle of the sidewalk was a perfectly shaped green pine cone with its branch. A gift from above. Maggie paws'd as we stared at the green beauty. Back home we paws'd at the Coral Hummingbird plant. We admired its simplistic green beauty with a splash of pink. It was a lovely green day.

Thank you Mother Nature

MaggieMoose: Twigless Faith

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Be faithful in small things, because it is in them that your strength lies."

Twigless, but keeping the faith....

Overnight wind gusts blew...TWIGS! Joy.

MaggieMoose Gallery: Lucky Mushroom Art

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"There are always flowers for those who want to see them."

Yesterday Maggie and I went for our afternoon walk. It had been a gloomy and overcast day. A very good day to go to an art gallery. As we walked outside a fine mist of rain greeted us. I didn't have an umbrella and Maggie was without a raincoat (who cares). We forged ahead as the rain became thicker. Along our pathway was a parade of mushroom art displayed by Mother Nature. We saw a daisy mushroom! Lucky us! But, the most unusual art were the black and curly mushrooms. Their extraordinary shape had us wondering if they were something else?

Before our walk was done we came upon the strong, the mighty, and the fearless mushrooms. If we were ants or slugs these mushrooms would be the gigantic Sequoia trees of the forest. No small flower here. A boldness showed in their form. We saw they were getting their way no matter what. Maggie and I liked their qualities of persistence and fearlessness.

Our walk in the misty & rainy day wouldn't be complete without Maggie looking for a lucky Leprechaun. Maggie couldn't resist poking her nose in in a field of green clover. Where was the purveyor of all this fine mushroom art....

Eureka! Organic Street Art

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off of our souls."

Maggie's fully focused look

This weekend when we walked the rain filled mornings we came across some street art. We saw multiple leaf prints printed on the sidewalk like silk screened images. Maggie stopped in front of one leaf print as if she "found it". The great art discoverer Maggie! Except it wasn't a human artist, but Mother Nature herself. We were like Sherlock Holmes with our heads down when we continued along the sidewalk. Maybe we discovered nature's gold on the ground? We admired different leaf shapes imprinted on the cement. The other part of ourselves enjoyed the colorful 3D leaves scattered everywhere in between the clumps of pine needles bunched up. Wind and rain plumetted our neighborhood over the weekend. Our surroundings were washed clean of any dust, just like our souls were refreshed and renewed when we discovered the organic street art.

Eureka!

Heads In The Clouds

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"There are no rules of architecture for a castle in the clouds."

sunrise

Maggie and I are having a hard time keeping our heads out of the clouds. They are so beautiful this time of year. All we can do when we take our walks or run around town is look up! There must be a castle on the other side of what we see. Our imagination takes off seeing the brilliant colors and shapes. When we look up it is like watching a moving piece of artwork in 3D.  No rules of architecture for Mother Nature. It's inspirational to see the creative forms all around us. Maybe Maggie will take up painting nature's cloudscapes? If she can hold a tennis ball for dear life, surely a paintbrush will do. We have brushes around here somewhere.... Hey Maggie, come over here. Have I got a paintbrush for you.

Roots Of Goodness

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness."

When Maggie and I walk along the street we see the most magnificent roots of enormously tall trees. These trees and their roots fascinate us. The roots are so powerful. We imagine that these roots have shared their goodness with others for many years. The birds that find shelter in the trees bring us joy too. We appreciate this tree and all the others along our path, because they are bringing us oxygen, shade from the heat, shelter from rain, and spectacular beauty. They are part of Mother Nature's creations standing so proud. We see their soul in each one of these trees. We feel connected. Maggie is reminding me, it is time to go for a walk. OK, let's go appreciate the soil of goodness along our path. Woof Woof

Missing The Dog Days of Summer

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability."

summer swimming

Maggie and I are feeling like the squirrels; we need to go collect the nuts. Acorns are on the ground. Not a good sign if we want to keep living those lazy, dog days of summer. The seasons are changing. Mother Nature is adjusting herself. There's a frenzy about outside. More cars & people are about back from vacations, kids are in school, and life is starting to hum around us at a little bit faster pace.
"Wait a minute" Maggie and I scream.
"We're not ready!"
Maggie still has laps to swim, hot walks to take, flowers to smell.... Geez, just when we were feeling quite respectable with lazing around. Now we have to adjust to the cool mornings (button up), darker nights (we can't see), and getting back to the cozy days of winter (cuddle up). We know it's Fall first, winter second, but we're in the practice mode. Like the squirrels collecting the acorns. Winter is coming!

MaggieMoose Bliss in the Great Outdoors

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Another thing I like to do is sit back and take in nature. To look at the birds, listen to their singing, go hiking, camping and jogging and running, walking along the beach, playing games and sometimes being alone with the great outdoors. It's very special to me."

Maggie 8/8/12

Maggie and I can have fun anywhere, but when we are outdoors together we seem to find the most joy. Oops, Maggie reminds me of playing "throw the tennis ball" a million times. It is on the top of the list too. As I was saying.... Our walks are somewhere between leisurely and power walking. We might even sprint a bit now and then. When the red tailed hawk flies ten feet above us in hot pursuit of its prey- that's magic. We then bow down and feel very privileged to Mother Nature. The red tailed hawk knows us. We see him or her just about everyday on our walks. He keeps his distance. Maggie and I are planning our next play adventure. We're going to the beach. The car is ready for the sand. Maggie is ready too. Proof is that as I write this Maggie comes running up with her play beach towel and lays down at my feet. Maggie is this a hint? Yes, the great outdoors is very special to us. We like those moments of feeling the MaggieMoose bliss in the fresh air.

Maggie and play towel

Oh, oh, I wonder if she'll want to bring all those beachy driftwood twigs home?

Maggie Smiles In A Pink World

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"The very pink of perfection."

Maggie smiles at a sea of pink perfection!
