  Miss Maggie is the best girl, but sometimes the looks she gives me as her mum... like today. We're out walking in the sunshine on the wet sidewalk from last night's rain. As Maggie's mum I wanted a simple sunshine photo of her sweet face. I asked Maggie 'How about a selfie girl?' OMD (Oh My Dog) you'd think I asked her for the world! Miss Reluctant gives me the slight shoulder turn as she takes her selfie. It's Mothering Day or Mother's Day in the UK so, I asked Maggie for a little respect today, even if we're on the other side of the pond. Selfie done, we walked on in the sunshine. Birds chirped, the air was fresh and regardless of the selfie troubles, as her mum I enjoyed her sweet company. Happy Mother's Day to our friends across the pond! And for all mothers elsewhere we celebrate you too! WOOF WOOF

Roses For Canine Courage

"Canine for Courage" 2013 Rose parade float

  Yesterday Maggie and I watched the 2013 Rose Bowl parade. Maggie became really excited when she saw the Natural Balance Pet Foods' 2013 Rose parade float called Canines For Courage. Her human sibling Julie at the parade sent us photos hot off the iPhone press. Everyday Maggie eats her Natural Balance dog food. YUM, YUM. More importantly, Maggie likes her fellow canines. Military working dogs who serve (and are serving) her country are the best of the best and the most courageous. They deserve a big MaggieMoose WOOF WOOF salute and more.... 

According to the broadcaster of the parade, the float is a floral replica of the Military Working Dog Teams National Monument. We agree with the sign on the float; Dogs For Defense Save Lives. 

                                                                               

One dog riding on the float was named Lucca. While on duty she lost a leg due to a roadside bomb. Maggie and I like that the military dogs are getting credit for their courage under fire. These are dogs with moose size pawsabilities! Ask Lucca..... the stories she could tell of resisting and mastering fear to define courage while protecting her humans.

Shivering Snakes....tomato tomahto

  The song that comes to mind is Let's Call The Whole Thing Off by George and Ira Gershwin. Shivering snakes...tomato tomahto; a snake crossed our path. Maggie and I paused out of range to let this creature cross our path. iPhone intact; I took some photos. In hindsight, maybe not the brightest idea of mine since I thought it was a harmless garden snake. 

What do I know? 

Lightening or lightening bug? It took a suggested text from my offspring "might be a rattlesnake." Holy lightening! My favorite mentor Google to the rescue. Jumpin' jehosafats! It is was a baby rattlesnake. Although a baby rattlenake, I've since learned baby rattlesnakes do bite, they do have venom from birth (uncontrolled amount of venom), and they don't have the usual warning rattle sound like the adults. DANGER DANGER. I say to Maggie; let's call the whole thing off!
