MaggieMoose: Jan. 22nd It's the Birthday Sprout

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Your heart is full of fertile seeds, waiting to sprout."

Maggie's 3rd birthday!

Today is Maggie's 3rd birthday. She was born on Jan. 22, 2011, on a farm in Missouri. Her birth date is the same as the famous musician Steve Perry. We love his music. And like the famous musician, Maggie has been on quite a journey since her arrival in our household. She has gone from the cutest puppy in pink to a grown up girl (still in pink) who continues to share her puppy loving ways with everyone. Now Maggie's reach is around the world in 174 countries sharing her moose size pawsabilities. Today is also special because for the first time our pink-flowering Currant plant (Ribes sanguinem) blossomed! Ironically, my daughter received that plant 3 years ago as a gift. A gift that would keep giving... Just like Maggie.

It's early in the morning before the roosters have crowed. Maggie has her birthday toys scattered everywhere as she heads back to sleep. Zzzzs. Thank you Maggie for being in not only my life, but in all those lives you touch everyday. You are my little birthday princess who has blossomed into a beautiful girl full of moose size pawsabilities.

Campus Queen: Full Of Hearts

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed."

Stanford Memorial Church

Maggie and I were on Stanford University campus yesterday. She thought she was the campus queen. Every step of hers was full of confidence and joy. It was a very hot day. As we got closer to the Stanford Memorial Church the coolness was refreshing. It was like how love refreshes one's soul. Many weddings take place in the Stanford Memorial Church it's so spectacular inside and out. As we approached we saw two beautiful brides and their wedding parties leave. Love's twin soul was palpable. Maggie must have felt it for she decided to park herself right under love's wing.

Maggie and I have been here many times. We never realized love was everywhere. It's in the details all around. Were our eyes closed before? Different shaped hearts abounded in the the pillars of the building. What a great place to be, on Stanford campus surrounded by love. Maggie agrees. Our world was transformed.

Love Fruit

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand."
Love is plump, juicy, and delicious. It's right in front of anyone's hands or paws. Ripe, bursting, and desiring to be chosen like the biggest, fattest strawberry. Maggie focuses on the big, fat heart full of love. She doesn't know about looking back at the little broken hearts scattered through time like us humans have a penchant to do. Maggie lives by Mother Teresa's words about love being a fruit. One big, fully committed chomp, and Maggie's bursting with love! Lucky me, because she just sprayed me with its yummy juice!

For Sentimental Reasons

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.  To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving."  ~Kahlil Gibran

My coffee cup

February brings sentimental feelings of love from the heart. Yesterday in the car I heard the song (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons beautifully sung by Tammy McCann. When I got home I played the version sung by Ella Fitzgerald from YouTube. I sang it to Maggie. She melted. She didn't care that I was out of tune or that I wasn't Ella. Her soulful eyes looked into mine as I stroked her paw. All Maggie cares about is that I love her. Like the lyrics go; she thinks of me every morning, dreams of me every night, and she's never lonely as long as I'm in sight. I've given her my heart and she's given me hers. We give thanks for another day of loving.....

From Maggie & I: Tell someone you love them. <3

I love you for sentimental reasons
I hope you do believe me
I`ll give you my heart
I love you and you alone were meant for me
Please give your loving heart to me
And say we`ll never part
I think of you every morning
Dream of you every night
Darling, I`m never lonely
Whenever you are in sight
I love you for sentimental reasons
I hope you do believe me
I`ve given you my heart

I love you for sentimental reasons
I hope you do believe me
I`ve given you my heart
A heart from a coffee spill on the kitchen counter from my coffee cup!
