MaggieMoose: Memory Lane With Future Memories

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"A life-long blessing for children is to fill them with warm memories of times together. Happy memories become treasures in the heart to pull out on the tough days of adulthood."

Yesterday Maggie and I received the first draft of our illustrations for our 1st kid's book: MaggieMooseTracks® MAKING FRIENDS. The illustrations were brilliant! The artist Randy Jennings captured Maggie's puppy essence perfectly. It made me want to look back at some of her puppy photos. We took a trip down memory lane together. My goodness, I see why I nicknamed her MaggieMoose. She really had big paws to go with her big legs. She was so cute with her sweet little face. (Still is!)

On the flipside, my twin girls have a birthday on May 1st. More memory lane. Maggie and I looked at their old photos. Now they're still young, but all grown up living independent lives. We saw a flashback of Christy sib snuggling up to Maggie puppy in the cozy bed. Then we came across her twin Julie sib running with Maggie when Maggie was one year old.

So many fun photos to look at.... Maggie and I decided we have a treasure trove of memories we can look at and enjoy. It's a legacy for the sibs to enjoy too. Smiles came across our faces as we scrolled through all the images of days past.

We're ready for other kids to start creating memories of Maggie's puppy tails. These tails (tales) might just bring some smiles on a rainy day. This time the memories will come in a beautiful fiction book filled with story and color illustrations. Maggie knows her puppy tails will bring memories of joy, wonder and a little suspense for days to come. Our 1st kid's book is titled MaggieMooseTracks® MAKING FRIENDS. The book will be available on Amazon & Kindle around the end of May or beginning of June 2013! Stay tuned! WOOF WOOF

MaggieMoose: Surprise!

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us."

The other day I showed up at the groomer's early to pick Maggie up. I was really lucky because I got to see Maggie up on the table getting her final trims and brushes. She was so happy to see me. Smiles were on my face too. I was amazed how much control she had remaining calm on the grooming table, because she was really excited. She had her wiggle butt under control. Maggie's inner voice must have said 'KEEP CALM & LOVE HUMAN'.

When her groomer Jesus walked away from the table for a minute Maggie sat perfectly still. Just like a poised young lady. That's my girl! Maggie's been going to the groomer's since she was 4 months old and had her rabies shot. Although she knows the grooming drill, she still gets so enthusiastic when I pick her up. Maggie shimmies & shakes all over their entry room floor. Surprises are good. Maggie and I like it when we're not expecting to be seized by the element of surprise. It's enough for Maggie to wiggle, wiggle, wiggle right on out of the groomer's springing with happiness right by my side!

MaggieMoose: Playtime!

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Life must be lived as play."

While I sat in my chair Maggie decided play time might be a better use of my time. The next thing I knew Maggie and her football were at my elbow. Shaking her football back and forth she tried to get my attention....

OK Maggie. I gave her a couple tosses of the old plastic football. That satisfied her. Then she took her football and went to her pile of other chew things & toys. Maggie plopped down and played by herself. Her pure imagination took over. Maggie's life lived as one of play while she entertained herself. Pure imagination sprouted around her. Playtime!

MaggieMoose: Holy Rat BBQ!

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Happiness does not come from doing easy work, but from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best."

Maggie held her twig in good stead. It was the only solace she had when I wouldn't let her chase the rat that came running out of our Weber BBQer! STAY Maggie! It all started with the bird feeder. Mistake #1 was letting bird seed get on the ground. Mistake #2 was not pulling down the bird feeder right away. Mistake #1 & #2 equaled a rat taking refuge in our wintered BBQer. God bless Maggie's human sib's boyfriend Patrick who saved the day. We were suspicious a mouse was hanging out by the BBQer. I had already removed the BBQ's winter cover. That cover went straight into the trash when a bad smell came from it. Oh Miss Maggie so wanted to explore.... NO Maggie! Cooties! When Maggie & I saw a mouse run what appeared to be inside the BBQ I freaked out. Patrick came to the rescue. He was at the scene of the crime with all of us looking on. Maggie had to watch from inside the screen door. She had a pouty face, because she didn't get to help us. Patrick slowly opened the BBQ's lid-ICKKKKK...out came running not a mouse, but a RAT! OMD (Oh My Dog)! Shrieks were heard around the neighborhood! Maggie was in a 'twig'er'!

After it was all said and done a major clean up & sanitizing job was completed. That took hours! No more rat domicile remained in our little Weber BBQer. The propane tank was detached to prevent another easy entry into the Weber. We blocked the hole in the BBQer with a heavy river rock. (We'll remove the rock if we ever BBQ again!) Our green astroturf that rested beneath the BBQer was tossed. Our turf had cooties from the rat. I guess Maggie & I have a new sodding of the astroturf to do on our patio. Maggie celebrated Patrick's great work with her twig and tennis ball by her side. For Maggie & me happiness came after Patrick's difficult and demanding ICK job of the BBQ rat cleanup. We give thanks and praise to Maggie's human sib Julie too who remained by Patrick's side during the whole dirty rat affair.

WOOF WOOF and a happy ending.

MaggieMoose: Oh Shakespeare!

Maggie's pawsability thought for the day:
"Love to faults is always blind, always is to joy inclined. Lawless, winged and unconfined, and breaks all chains from every mind."
